Warmachine Wörterbuch

Hallo Leute, eine von euch hören event. Podcasts (Chain-Attack, Road to War, Removed from Play und und und...) oder lesen auch Foren, jedoch ist es bestimmt dem einen oder anderen schon mal passiert das er nicht unbedingt alle Abkürzungen oder Begriffe kannte. Die Jungs von Chain-Attack habe auf Ihrer Seite nun eine Art Warmachine Wörterbuch gesammelt und es veröffentlicht.
Ich werde dieses auch noch um deutsche Begriffe erweitern, jedoch nicht um nur im lokalen genutzte Begriffe, sondern Begriffe die im Deutschen Raum genutzt werden.
Jedoch hier nun erst mal Liste von Trevor, Jay und Scott:
Warmachine/Hordes Colloquialisms
This list is a grouping of nicknames and jargon that are relatively common* in Warmachine/Hordes vernacular. This list does not include common acronyms used on the forums but only alternate names for models used commonly* in speech (but also sometimes in text). Note that some acronyms are used verbally
Grouped by category, but in no particular order (wrote them down as they came to me!).
*It should be noted that while I have tried to keep these common there are many here which are pretty obscure, I am having to make judgement calls. I have been playing the game many years and have not heard some of these terms.
General
Old Man Stats – Low Stats in Defence, Armor, and total Hit points. Generally in reference to Nemo1, and Severius1. 14 DEF 14 ARM 14 Wounds
Deathstar – Large Combined Ranged Attack and/or a large unit with significant buffs or bonuses making them very difficult to deal with. The term has multiple meanings.
p(Name) – Originally used to describe the version in Prime or Primal, but has morphed into the first version of each Warcaster/Warlock
e(Name) – Epic version, in most cases if there are two Epic versions it will be the first Epic or (Name)2
Warnoun – A model with War in its name such as a Warjack, Warbeast, Warcaster, or Warlock. Take War and add a Noun.
Buff Juggling or Cycling – Upkeeping a spell at the start of a turn, using the Model/Unit that the Upkeep is on then activating the Caster and moving it to another Model/Unit to get double use out of it. Can be repeated over the course of several rounds.
Clocked or Clocked Out – Ran out of time on death clock
Toe-in – Barely touching, or barely in. Usually in reference to a zone in scenario play, or a terrain piece such as a forest or cloud.
(name) Chassis – Term used to describe Jacks/Beasts built upon the original type or of a similar body type. For Example: Ironclad Chassis Jacks have MAT 7 and include: Cyclone, Defender, and Ironclad
Super Tough – Tough on 4+ rather than the normal 5+
Casey Fever or Faction Fever – Term coined by Focus and Fury to describe constant faction switching.
On A Stick – Having an ability available in every list, usually on an easily accessible solo. For Example: Cygnar has Arcane Shield on a stick from Junior (the Journeyman Warcaster).
Jam – Putting a unit or model deep into your opponents side of the board to try to hold them back and limit their options.
Camp – Having a Warcaster/Warlock hold onto Focus or Fury defensively, usually in large quantities.
Alpha Strike – Hitting your opponent first, and hitting him hard enough to hopefully limit retaliation.
Fully Boosted – Both attack and damage rolls are Boosted
Control (Caster) – Caster that can easily control the opposition by forcing it into limited moves (see Time Walk)
Time Walk or Time Lock – Feat (or rarely an ability/spell) that basically gives the user an additional turn. Partially coined from the Magic The Gathering card: Time Walk.
Denial – Keeping an opponent from doing things, such as casting spells, targeting, charging.
Snake Eyes – Double 1’s on the dice
Box Cars – Double 6’s on the dice
Trip 6’s or 1’s – all 6’s or all 1’s on the dice
TK – The spell Telekinesis (on several casters, eHaley, eKrueger, Rahn, etc)
Cutting for Fury or Cutting – Self Reeving by taking damage on a warlock for Fury
Hail Mary or Hail Mary Assassination – Attempting a long shot assassination, derived from Hail Mary pass (American Football)
Dark Horse – A little known caster that has an increased chance of success because of opponents lack of knowledge of said caster.
Yo-Yo – Send a model out, have it kill a few things and bring it back by use of various abilities (Refuge, Lightning Strike/Sprint, Fate Walker)
Legendary – Unapproved term for casters that have gone epic a second time, Gets auto-changed on the PP forum to Epic. Examples Vlad3, Nemo3, Makeda3
Netdeck or Netlist – Term originally used in Magic The Gathering to explain the practice of finding a (deck)list from the internet and using it rather than creating one’s own list.
Meta – a self referential term used to describe the practices, nomenclature, and trends within the gaming community of a geographical location or virtual community. Alternatively a term used to describe a geographical/virtual gaming community. For example: “In my meta Khador is very strong” or “In the national Meta the current trend is away from troop swarms” or “I am from the so-cal meta” or Alternatively a term used to describe the practices, nomenclature and trends of the game as a whole “The meta is always changing”
Winners/Losers-Bracket – Warmachine/Hordes tournaments are played using swiss style pairings, where players of similar records are paired up. Only a person who is undefeated can win an entire event, so undefeated players are referred to as in the Winners Bracket, all other players regardless of number of losses are within the Losers Bracket.
Threat Range – The sum total range in which a model threatens with attacks including melee or gun range. Somewhat subjective in its application. For Example: “What is Molik Karn’s threat range?” “Well he is speed 6 with reach so if he charges its 11 inches… unless you mean Push, Leash, Road to War, Rush, Charge, Side Step, Second Side Step and Reach… then it’s 23 inches”
Troop Swarm or Troopmachine – The practice of taking a significant number of troops, foregoing jacks/beasts to Jam an opponent or get a high volume of attacks.
Victim Stats – DEF 12 ARM 12-15, Stat line on various units which make them very easy to kill and hit and killed on average dice vs. relatively low MAT/RAT and POW/P+S
Baby Seal – Newer player, akin to Newbie, Noobie, Noob. Also the term “Clubbed” as part of the reference, when beating said player.
The Game That Shall Not Be Named – Well if it should not be named then why would I name it here?! Might rhyme with Horty Kay.. O_o
LGS or FLGS – Local Game Store, or Friendly Local Game Store
Khador Arc Node – Leaving the last man or standard in a unit as far back as possible for easy application of buffs. Not just used in Khador.
Full Boat – Max unit with all possible unit attachments, max weapon attachments and applicable solos.
Nuke or sometimes Shitty Nuke – Direct damage spell that is generally a waste of resources when directly cast off of a Warcaster/Warlock
Mini-Feat – A once per game ability on some non-Warcaster/Warlock models.
Fluff – The fiction and information that provides the setting, background, and context for the game.
Fluff Bunny – A person who loves the stories, background and setting of the game
Salty – Angry, agitated, or bitter over something. For Example: “Scott is salty over the Stormwall and well… basically all things Cygnar.. and rightfully so.”
Sock Jack – Placing a large metal Warjack inside a long tube sock and beating someone with it. For Example: “I told my opponent I wanted to have a nice laid back, casual game. He brought out eHaley… I proceeded to Sock Jack him.”

Poledancer – Epic Haley
The Dude – Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Officer
Darth Striker – Epic Striker

Spark Node – A lightning immune model used to bounce Electro Leaps into opposing models. For Example the Storm Pod from the Stormwall

Pop and Drop – High Exemplar Kreoss (pKreoss or Kreoss1) uses feat, knocking everything down, and then kills your caster
Harby – Harbinger
The Book – The Covenant of Menoth
Threeoss – Intercessor Kreoss (Kreoss3)
Faberge Egg or The Egg – Vice Scrutator Vindictus, because of his filigreed egg shape.
Vinny D – Vindictus
Vassal – When used alone always means Vassal of Menoth, not Vassal Mechanik
Pipe Organ – Vessel of Judgement
Judge Judy – Judicator
Choir Tax – Perceived reduction in stats on Menoth Jacks because of the ability to give +2 to attack and damage rolls.
Parade Balloon – Harbinger
Sevy – Either of the Severius’
Bob – The High Reclaimer, named after Silent Bob
Tom – Testament of Menoth
Gayze – Avatar’s ability Menoth’s Gayze.
TFG – Temple Flame Guard
Khador
Winterguard Deathstar or Deathstar – Winterguard Infantry Package.. 15 guys that can all Combine Ranged Attack (CRA) and/or the combined sum of 15 guys with Bob & Weave, Iron Flesh, CRA, Sprays, Rockets and Joe giving them Tough or Boosted attack rolls
Kovnik Joe (or sometimes just Joe) or Brosef – Kovnik Jozef Grigorovich
Dog – War Dog
Hamovich, Hark, or Hambat – Harkevich, because he carries a weapon that looks like a Bone-in Ham
eButcher – Kommader Orsus Zoktavir
Clam Jack – Demolisher or Devastator
Juggy – Juggernaut
A-bomb – using a fear-causing model with Abomination (Fenris or Doomreaver) to cause multiple command checks.
Scrappy – Scrapjack
Dandy Andy – Kovnik Andrei Malakov
Crappy Barrage – Creeping Barrage
AK’s – Assault Kommandos
Big-B – Behemoth
Ice Cream Cone – Zerkova, or more specifically her wand.
Da Bears – Great Bears of Gallowswood
La Terriblé – Karchev the Terrible
IFP – Iron Fang Pikemen
Doomies – Doom Reavers
Super Soldier Serum – Vlad2’s feat
Bad Santa – Koldun Lord
Cryx
Gaspy – Asphyxious, play on asphyxiation
Death Chicken or Bone Chicken- Any of the various Arc Node Bonejacks, but most commonly referring to the Deathripper.
Campithrax – Lich Lord Venethrax camping all of his focus on Dragonsblood, a strategy commonly used with him.
Denny – Deneghra
Dirty D – Deneghra
McThralls – Mechanithralls
Tartar Sauce, or The Sauce – Bane Lord Tartarus
Scrappies – Scrap Thralls
Resurrection Package – Combination of Necro-Surgeon and Mechanithralls (sometimes involving other models)
Satyxis – Almost always refers to the Satyxis Raiders, the Satyxis Blood Witches are usually referred to as Blood Witches or Witches.
Hag – Satyxis Blood Hag
Skarre Bomb – Using Sacrificial Strike to kill a model, Originated from MK1 when it used current armor instead of base armor. She would usually feat, and use an ARM 21 Bane Knight, boosting damage to one-shot an opposing caster without needing an attack roll.
DJ – Deathjack
Pacman – Gerlak Slaughterborn, and his ability to chew through whole units with Killing Spree
Crab Jacks – Leviathan Chassis Jacks – Leviathan, Harrower, and Desecrator
Retribution
Mittens or Battle Mittens- House Shyeel Battle Mages
Mega Mittens – House Shyeel Artificer
Disco – Discordia
Snipe, Feat, Go – A style of play with Ravyn that involves Mage Hunter Strike Force getting snipe, Ravyn Feating, and then proceeding to kill the opposing caster with the Strike Force.
Space Tick or Battle Cricket – Arcantrik Force Generator
Ozzy – Lord Arcanist Ossyan
iJack – Myrmidons (Thanks to the studio scheme and its resemblance to an Apple designed Jack)
Coffee Cup or Coffee Guy – Arcanist, named because of image of him with a cup of coffee in the Forces of Warmachine: Retribution of Scyrah book.
Mercenaries
Elven Bitch or Soulless Elven Hooker – Eyriss (usually Eyriss2 now but can describe any version, originally described the Merc only, give her services for coin, assaulting, focus stripping invisible, broken Eyriss1)
Harm – Kiss of Lyliss (Spell on Ayianna, was called Harm in MK1)
Bart-Galleon – Combination of Captain Bartolo Montador and the colossal Galleon, usually involves Batten Down the Hatches and Spiney Growth cast by Wrong Eye with a Bull Snapper in his battle group to get the Galleon to Armor 24
Assram or General Awesome – General Ossrum
Gun Bunnies – Grundback Blasters and/or Gunners
Nyss – Cylena Raefyll & Nyss Hunters
Boomies – Gregore Boomhowler & Co.
Hammer Dwarves – Horgenhold Forge Guard
Steelheads – When used in this manner usually refers to the Steelhead Halberdiers
TAC – Tactical Arcanist Corps
Best 2 Points in the Game or Darkwing Duck – Gorman Di Wulfe
Dooges – Master Gunner Dougal MacNaile
Gobber – Reinholdt, Gobber Speculator
Piper – Rhupert Carvolo, Piper of Ord
Nailer of Wishes – Sylys Wyshnalyrr
Gorten Bowling – Throwing Gorten with Solid Ground upkept to allow him to forfeit action, advance, and use his feat to catch opponents off-guard.
Merc Tax – Increased point cost for some merc models/units because they can be taken in multiple factions and must be adjusted accordingly for a myriad of friendly only buffs.
Mags or The Traitor or The Warlord – Terms used to describe Magnus in his various forms.
Pirate Package or Pirate Ball – Sea Dogs and/or Press Gangers plus many/all of their associated solos. Taken many times as a group with other casters, for example: The pDenny Pirate Package
Convergence aka CoC or better known as Cock
Trollbloods
Troll Moses or Trollses – Trollkin Runebearer
Dygmies – Pygmy Burrowers
Impaler Tax – Reduced Range on troll models because of the ability to take the Impaler
Kenny – Keg Carrier, comes from South Park. OMG you killed Kenny! (party foul)
Doomy – Hoarluk Doomshaper (either version)
Stone – Krielstone Bearer & Scribes
Champs – Trollkin Champions
Tuffalos – Trollkin Long Riders
Bowling – Using a slam (usually from Long Riders, Caber Thrower, or Beast) on your own models to take out large numbers of opposing models. Usually used on high defense opponents or to knock down casters.
Skilldrak – Madrak Ironhide World Ender (eMadrak)
EBDT – Earthborn Dire Troll
Bruce – Mountain King (I believe this term was coined by Dr. Lust on the trollbloods forum to describe how forum threads discussing the Mountain King refuse to die. Reference is to Die Hard/Bruce Willis)

Big Monkey / Stone Monkey – Woldwrath
Bark Node – Laris or more recently (Tree)Bark Node for the Gallows Grove. Can mean either.
Lord of the Dance – Krueger the Stormlord

Nagapocalypse – Term used to describe the DOOM! of Legion getting the Wraithbane animus on the Naga Nightlurker, giving them Magic Weapon and Blessed “On A Stick”. Example: “OMG Legion has Blessed on a stick, my Arcane Shielded Stormwall is screwed! Its the NAGAPOCALYPSE!”

Mr Fancypants or Mr Puffypants- Aptimus Marketh
Tubby (McButterpants), Fatty, Baron Harkonnen, Fats Dominar or Hedonism Bot – Dominar Rasheth
Skornergy – Term coined by Focus and Fury to describe the somewhat anti-synergy built into a lot of skorne models
Lanterns – Mordikaar
Tibbers – Tiberion
TyCom – Tyrant Commander
Poop Holder – Extoller Soulward
sHexy or Guitar Hero Hexy – Lord Arbiter Hexeris (eHexeris)
Elephant Herd or Titan Herd – List with a lot of Titan warbeasts in it.
Molik Missile – Using Molik Karn with either Makeda1 or 2 with various spells (Savagery+Rush or Leash+Road to War+Rush respectively) and Side Steps to send Molik Karn a very large distance to assassinate an opponents caster
Minions
Ninja Pig – Brine (Rorsch throws the smoke they both move… like NINJA!)
Witch Doc Croc – Gatorman Witch Doctor
Pork Node – Imaginary beast that Minions will someday get with an Arc Node on it.
Gobbos, Gobbers, or Swamp Gobbers – Swamp Gobber Bellows Crew
Predator – Totem Hunter
Gator Flying Circus or Flying Circus – Throwing a (non-steady) model then using Wrastler animus (Rise) to get the model up before its activation. In rare cases can be used in other factions, notably eIrusk. In MK1 it was used on Steady models, most commonly called the Trollkin Flying Circus or Khador Flying Circus and was used to toss Borka and the Drakhun respectively
